Reception

Welcome to Reception!

A big warm welcome from our Reception Year Team here at Dunmore Primary School, and thank you for taking the time to look at our page, which we hope you find useful!

We have fun activities ready for your children every day!  We are very lucky to have lots of space, both indoors and out, with wonderful resources for the children to explore!

About us

Our Class Teacher is Mrs Ruth Barker, with Mrs Sarah Walters some days too.

We also have wonderful support staff working with us across the week:

Mrs Leanne Howard

Mrs Laura Peck

Mrs Sam Wheeler

Mrs Toni Williams

General Reminders

  • Our PE day is on a Friday, so please make sure your child has their t-shirt and shorts in school. It's generally a good idea to leave these in school, rather than take them home each week. We will send them home at the end of each half-term (or sooner if needed).
  • Please, please make sure your child's clothing, PE Kit and wellies are clearly named. As you can imagine, this is especially important on PE days!

  • A spare set of clothes (left in school) in case your child has an accident, or gets very dirty outside, would be really helpful.

  • Leave a pair of wellies (clearly named) to be left in school, so they can play outside whatever the weather.
  • Bring water bottles (filled with fresh water every day), book bags and reading books into school every day please.

  • In colder weather, please send your child to school with a warm coat (preferably water proof), along with a hat and gloves if it is extremely cold.
  • In warmer weather, please send your child to school with a hat and apply sun cream before school. We can not apply it at school unfortunately.

Please read our Curriculum Letters so that you can help to support your children's learning.  We publish a new one each term so you can see what your child is learning throughout the year!

Hungry Little Minds

Many little things light up hungry little minds. Children take everything in, and even the smallest things parent/carers do with them can make a big difference.

To support your child's learning, here is a link to some information and recommended applications you can use for children from birth to five:

Daily Phonics sessions

From Monday 27th April the Department for Education are uploading daily phonics lessons for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. It will be really helpful for your child’s reading if you were able to take part in these each day. There are also videos to support parents/carers with these lessons at home.
