  • School Houses

Dunmore Primary School has a ‘House system’.

As part of our vision, ‘Great to be inspired. Inspired to be Great’ – we have four people who inspire us all with learning every day. Children learn about these inspirational people through assemblies, focus weeks and through our curriculum.

Every child from Reception – Year 6 is placed in a house when they join the school. Siblings are placed in the same house. House captains and Vice-Captains are elected by the pupils in Year 6 at the start of the academic year. The captains are expected to demonstrate our school values: KINDNESS, COURAGE and CURIOSITY – just as the inspirational people below do.

Pupils are given house points for a wide variety of achievements. Weekly house point totals are given in assembly. At the end of each term (three times a year), the House Point Trophy is awarded to the house with the most points. During the year, we organise numerous events where the children compete in houses, including Sports Day and a Maths competition.
