Admissions to Reception Year
In Oxfordshire, all children are admitted to start school (Reception Year) in the September following their 4th birthday. The academic year runs from 1st September one year to 31st August the following year. Dunmore is a two-form entry school, so our intake into Reception Year is 60..
The procedure for admission to school is controlled by Oxfordshire County Council, and you will need to apply online the year before your child is due to start school. You are very welcome to visit us when you are making your choice, so please contact the school office to make an appointment. You must still apply for a primary school place even if your child already attends Dunmore Nursery. There is no automatic transfer between the two.
The closing date for 'on time' applications for children starting in September 2025, was 15th January 2025, and 30th April for 'late' or amended applications. However, it is not too late as you can still submit an application here - Apply for Reception Year 2025 - Oxfordshire.
2025 applications, received on time, were processed on National Allocation Day – 16th April 2025.
Online applications for Reception Year in September 2026 will open in the Autumn term. We will publish the dates once they have been made available, or you can check the Oxfordshire Admissions website for updates- Apply for a school place - Oxfordshire
Full details of the arrangements for selecting pupils who apply and oversubscription criteria (how places are offered if there are more applicants than places) can be found in the Starting School document from Oxfordshire County Council - available to download from the Oxfordshire County Council Website.

Children are, of course, welcome to join us at any stage in their primary school career. An experienced staff team and friendly children will help to ease the transition from one school to another for your child. If you would like your child to attend our school, please contact the school office to check if we have spaces and also to arrange a visit to the school.
All admissions in-year are also controlled by Oxfordshire County Council. Please see the link below to their website, which contains guidance and the online application form you will need.
