    Welcome to Maths!

The teaching of Maths at Dunmore is underpinned by the belief that Maths should inspire, include and challenge children, within a curriculum based on fluency and mastery. Children are given the opportunity to build strong foundations with secure knowledge of the four operations (+-X/) alongside understanding of mathematical concepts involving measures, fractions, geometry and algebra. We use manipulatives and models to strengthen these foundations and develop conceptual understanding. Children are encouraged to use appropriate mathematical language and have regular opportunities to solve challenging problems.  We strive to ensure that every child becomes a confident mathematician with a sense of enjoyment and curiosity about the subject.

We are following the White Rose Maths (WRM) Scheme of Learning. We use many of the White Rose resources, supplemented with resources from other providers. We have adopted the WRM calculation policy.

    Maths Resources for Parents

For further information on how you can help your child with maths, we recommend the parent hub on White Rose Maths website https://whiteroseeducation.com/parent-pupil-resources/maths

The WRM website has some excellent resources, including videos and parent guides:

The free 1-Minute Maths app from WRM is also fantastic for practising fundamental number skills:

We also use Times Tables Rock Stars, which we set as maths homework and play in school. Your child will get a log in during year 1, and will use TTRS all the way to the end of year 6.
