At Dunmore, we aim to help the children of Dunmore feel listened to and empowered.
There are two school councillors in each class from Year 1 to Year 6. The children have regular meetings with Miss Clark to plan, discuss and carry out current projects that they are involved in across the school year.
Over the course of the year, we aim to undertake a new project every term which encompasses the 4 areas of the School Council Kite:
It is our intention that these children help represent their fellow pupils and be actively involved in the decisions and projects that they undertake during their time in the academic year. We want to allow children to improve their listening and diplomacy skills, and self-confidence when meeting with each other and adults. It is important that children are able to see the results of their choices and decisions, and they can present arguments to implement real change.
We hope that the children are inspired to make positive changes to their environment outside school and beyond it.
